Let me ask you something. If you knew the “why” to your situation would it change your outcome, perspective, or make the situation any easier? We have to remember that knowing the “why” wouldn’t satisfy us.
This is something I constantly have to remind myself throughout the year. It’s something I question often. I usually find myself daydreaming about, wondering, guessing, or searching for answers I may never know. This often happens when I think of Claire. I wonder what her future holds? Think about what her past has presented her and not knowing where she will be in 10 years.
Our Pastor said something once that really struck home with me. He stated “The WHY wouldn’t satisfy”. Even if we knew the reasons behind our trials or challenges knowing the reason behind it wouldn’t satisfy us. We would still have to continue that journey in order to get to the end outcome.
We all make plans but God is who creates and guides our footsteps. Jesus didn’t “feel” like going to the cross. As a Christian you have to make decisions and say “I don’t care how I feel or how it looks. I am going to do what is right.” He never questioned God. Jesus knew his outcome and the why, but he still had to journey on that road. He still praised God in those moments. He knew what his journey would lead to for us. We must give God praise and honor where it is due.
When we don’t understand the “Why” behind what is happening or happened, praise God for sending us down that path. There is a reason he brought you along that pathway, you just may not see it yet. You may not see what’s around the corner or coming up next but God does. You have to be okay with not knowing. Whatever it may be you will be okay, your child will be okay, or your family will be okay. The outcome for what God has planned for you outweighs the “Why”.
He knows every step.
One thing I think we should remember is that God is “JUST” not “FAIR”. Yes some people have things that come easier, some people don’t have the same trials you may be going through. Struggles may not happen as often to those around you. You may feel like you always take a step forward and two steps back. Don’t compare yourself to those around you. You are UNIQUELY made by God and he knows every step, plan, trial, joy, or failure before we ever did. He has it all laid out.
Be thankful for that! Be thankful and praise him for guiding you along those uncharted territories. They may lead you to wonder why, but know…even if you knew why…it still wouldn’t satisfy our longing to know more. We have to do things with OUR questions unanswered knowing God has the answers.
Hopefully this can help you understand when those crazy things happen throughout the year not to question why. When your motherhood journey isn’t turning out like you had hoped. Or you’re struggling to find peace with your children and their preteen attitudes. When you are having trials in your marriage or you have been laid off by your job. Rather than sitting and questioning “why me, why us, why is this happening?”
Just know He has our best interest. Sounds easy enough but I know it’s harder than it sounds. Just remember to have FAITH in him as he does in us. The OUTCOME of our trials throughout the year is greater than what we are going through!
