When planning a vacation it can add up very quickly for a family! However, if you are committed and really want to make that dream destination happen, here are 4 steps to help you be budget conscious when planning!
Plan Early
Planning early allows you to take advantage of discounts that are currently available by booking well in advance! Many destinations have what they call “early bird” discounts on package deals, tickets and accommodations. Many places offer lower rates for earlier bookings.
One of the other things with Disney that I will do when planning with me, is I will also keep an eye out for other discounts I can apply as they are released! So if you do book in advance and a promotion comes out that works with your time frame, I will apply that discount on top of your trip package more than likely saving you extra!
bundling your package
When I plan a trip I like to build a vacation package that includes tickets, resort, dining and airfare if possible all in one! By bundling your package like this it can save you money rather than booking everything separately! If dining options are available to add to your package at your destination I would highly recommend because this allows you to budget food before your trip. Most of these packages also have payment plans!
Another great example of a destination with bundle pricing is Inclusive Resorts. This type of resort offers a fixed price that includes most or all of the resort’s amenities, such as lodging, food, drinks, activities, and entertainment. The goal of an all-inclusive resort is to provide a worry-free vacation experience where guests don’t have to pay extra for the essentials.
Traveling during off peak seasons
Most destinations have a “high” or peak season when that spot is heavy on visitors. When planning if your schedule allows it traveling in those “off peak” time frames can save you money. It is a less busy season which means prices are lower and crowds are smaller.
A lot of times this will be out be time frames outside of school breaks, usually September, January and early February for many destinations. Depending on where you are traveling too, you can enjoy cooler tips during that time of year and beat the heat!
Pack Your own Food & Snacks
When traveling with kids I think a lot of what you hear through out the trip is “I’m hungry!” Many resorts these days have small refrigerators in the hotel rooms. Having a small grocery delivery sent to your hotel room upon arrival day can really help with saving money. You can eat a easy breakfast in your room while everyone is getting ready and that is one meal you won’t have to worry about paying for when you walk out the door!
If you are traveling to a theme park most parks allow you to bring your own snacks and water in! But also bringing a refillable water bottle can help keep cost down too! Pack easy individual packed snacks the kids can grab and snack on while on the go. We love to throw in apple sauce pouches, gold fish bags, peanut butter crackers and granola/protein bars!
less stress when budgeting ahead of time
Making a game plan ahead of time with these little tips above can really help make the budgeting aspect of a trip less stressful. But you don’t have to do that alone, that is what I am here for! I want to help make your planning less stressful so you can focus on the fun and the family while on your vacation!
